What have you been making for that little one in your life?

Here’s a super quick outfit I made for Luke yesterday. When I saw this MM camo in Hobby Lobby I knew I would have to make something from it. The pants are reversible from an OOP pattern that was given to me. Any pull on pants could be made this way. I’m sure they will only be worn on the camo side but can be turned up if they are too long. I used the camo fabric for the ME applique which was offered as a freebie on another site.

Yesterday??? You bought that fabric yesterday? And you’re already done with a whole OUTFIT? Don’t you sleep? It takes me a couple of days just thinking about an outfit first. That is so darn cute! Karen

That is a wonderful outfit! I wish we had a hobby lobby near me – very cute fabric. I love the pants, which pattern are they?

Thanks, everyone for your sweet comments. I have some more of this fabric and will make the other grands something, too, as time permits. I’ll need to girly it up a little for ML!Karen, I didn’t buy the fabric yesterday. I’ve had it a little while. I did make the pants yesterday and embellished the shirt. You’d be surprised just how quickly those pants sew up, probably took me about 30 minutes.Sara, I didn’t make the sweatshirt. It was purchased from Target, I think. It is really difficult to find solid color shirts that don’t have some kind of logo on them. I’ve made shirts with ribbing before but find it’s less expensive to just buy a plain one and embellish it–IF you can find the plain ones!Peacechick that design was a freebie a good while back on another site but is no longer available.
Beth, I got the fabric from the HL in Collierville when visiting DD, but I bet the one in Jackson will probably have it. I bought some more for a friend the last time I was there. If you don’t find it, let me know. I think we are going back to TN maybe next weekend. DD & SIL need a babysitter so they can go to a party. As if Mimi & Poppa need an excuse! ![]()

HettieLynn, this is just the greatest outfit for a little guy….he is going to be soo cool in it!
I love it!I’ve heard you can take a salad plate & a CD & trace out MM’s head very easily, then use Heat ‘n Bond to adhere it.Can you briefly explain how you make the pants so easily? I need to do up a pair of pants to pair up with my smocked & beaded Venice top so I can take the outfit to MP’s Lace Camp for the fashion show. The pink batiste I used for the top is too sheer to use only one layer.
I talked to sewsforfun today about how to make them lined & I think I can do it her way. I’m just curious as to how YOU do them. TIA

Hum, let’s see. 1. Sew outside leg seams, sew inside leg seams for both outer pants and lining.2. Turn one leg right side out. Place this leg inside other leg, right sides together. Pin at crotch seam, match the inside leg seams and the waist edges. Sew from the waist front to back. Do this for both pants and lining.3. Turn the outer pants right side out. Place inside the lining pants. Pin around the waist. Make sure you have the fronts matched to the front and back seams matched. I always mark mine when cutting them out.4. Sew around the waist of the pants about 1/2″ down from the top leaving about 1″ open (to run elastic later).5. Turn pants right side out through the bottom leg of the pants and bring legs of pants lining inside of pants.6. Press top edge of waist seam. Measure 1/4″ down from top edge and stitch around top of pants leaving the 1″ opening. Measure 1 1/4″ down (I don’t usually measure it this wide–just enough for the size elastic you use. I use 3/4″ elastic)and stitch all the way around the waist of pants.7. Cut a piece of elastic that fits comfortably around child’s waist and run through opening. Stitch opening closed. Either stitch a small loop of ribbon in the back or sew a button on the front so child can tell which is the front.8. Hem, turn up 1/4″ on each leg of pants and lining. Pin together and topstitch close to edge of both legs.
This probably is clear as mud, but really super easy. I’ve made a couple of pairs for Luke. Last spring I made him some red ones with little yellow chicks and the other side was yellow with little turtles. He calls them his chicken pants. His dad calls them chef pants because of the bright print.

Believe it or not, I think I understand that perfectly!!
I’m printing it right now & will take it with me to the cutting table. Thanks for typing it all out like that. I know that took awhile to do & I appreciate it sew much.
