Hi Girls, I finally got the a-line dresses done for the Fu sisters reunion next week. There will be lots of little girls there from the same orphanage my daughter came from, but only 2 other families from our travel group will be there. So I decided to make matching dresses for all three of our little girls. The fabric on one side is called “China Doll” by Michael Miller and is somewhat difficult to come by. I have been looking for it for 2 years and finally found it. I bought 8 yards so I could have plenty left over! The other side was just a remnant of a solid hot pink. I did the names with one of the fonts that came in my machine. I am not crazy about the ribbon curls on the buttons. I followed the directions in the Martha Pullen Applique book but they did not work out as well as I wanted. The trim on the bottom of the dresses is very tiny pink and green ball trim. And of course I had to make matching bloomers for each girl with their initials on the bum. I actually had to to this to keep them straight for myself. All three girls have slightly different measurements for waist and thigh, so the initials helped me know what bloomers went with each dress. I will post photos of the girls in the dresses when I get back from the reunion. We leave for Seattle on this coming Wednesday, so I am done a week early!!!
