Everything Sewing :: View topic – “Old” crochet & tatting projects

Thanks everyone!! My DDIL saves everything that I crochet or sew for the children!! She is learning to sew and crochet also. There is a young nurse at the nursing home where my Dad is a resident that is learning to crochet. If anyone mentions wanting to learn, I do whatever I can to encourage them. I printed her off some patterns and tips that are online and I always let her know I’m never ‘too busy’ to help her. I love it when someone, especially young Moms, want to learn, want to keep these fiber arts alive and well for generations to come. For years I only used yarn. Then I finally decided to try thread and I love it!! For me it is easier than yarn. One of my favorite projects is the ‘name doilies’. I don’t really know the name of them, it is done in filet. Makes wonderful gifts and is quick to make. When my DH had bypass surgery, in Jackson, I made several for the nurses and then when my Dad was in the hospital in the early Spring several people remembered me. They would come in the room and ask, ‘Weren’t you hear a few years ago?” “I remember you because you were always working with your hands.” One of the housekeeping staff asked me if I was the one that was doing the ‘stuff’ with the long needle (tatting)..LOL. So GaGa when is your first lesson?? I would love it!! Hope everyone has a great day!!_________________Blessings >
