Yippee for me – somehow DH and DS got my sewing machine paid for, LOL! I’m so excited! So, I’ve been playing with it. When I tried to do a buttonhole, it asked for an I foot…I don’t have an I foot. Can I just use the B foot that came with it? I have the automatic buttonhole sensor foot, too, but was trying the old fashioned way as well. They don’t offer a class that fits my schedule until late January, sigh!
I’m calling my new machine Canute the Great, after the Viking King of Denmark, LOL.

Can’t offer any advice on what foot will work, but I can say Whoppee for the new machine. You already sew so many beautiful things, now with a new machine I can only imagine the beauty you will turn out.

Thanks, ladies!
I called the shop….what looked like an I to me was really a C.
Also, my class isn’t until mid FEBRUARY! I’ll have it all learned at home by then, LOL.
It makes a lovely satin stitch! It’ll be great for all the appliqué. I can’t wait to get to know this machine well!

Nancy, I can feel your excitement coming through! I think you will understand most things about your new machine before class time but hope you learn some magic stitches when you go. You are going to have so much fun, love new toys.

I LOVE my Viking. Know you’ll be singing it’s praises too. You’ve done such wonderful things, can’t imagine what we’re in store for now. I’ll be waiting. Karen (Bet the knitting needles are sitting idle)

LOL Karen – my son said the same thing: You won’t be knitting much after Christmas! He had to hold his tongue until Christmas day, LOL.
I am sewing gifts for my parents and daughter, currently! My son deserves something special, too…will have to think on it!

new machines are always so exciting. I am very anxious to see all the georgeous garments you will turn out with it.is there a viking users group on the net somewhere, where you can ask your buttonhole question?

Yahoo groups have several Viking groups. Think there’s one for every kind of machine they mfg. I belong to the D1 and the serger 936, so bet you’ll find yours there. Karen

I decided to do a button with a fabric loop.
I have made an appliquéd tee shirt (big number 7 for Kitty), two fleece scarves with machine appliqué, added decorative stitching and an appliqué to a pair of socks, two towel bibs sans buttonholes, and two pairs of dolly PJ pants. I’ll make their tops, pillows and quilts tonight. I think I saw how to tie a quilt with the machine in the handbook…will look it up!
We’ll be leaving in the morning for Utah…wish us luck – the roads are awful!
