Nice of you to bring this up Karen, it is a subject of much debate. Personally, I’ve always felt like you, not to put Kris’ or the girlies names on anything except pillow cases, bib’s& pj’s; not something to wear around other’s in public. Now, with the kids being bigger my view has changed in *their* respect. I still feel the same with Carter. He is very shy of strangers but so little, all a bad person would have to do is get him to turn his head and snatch him away. *If* I were to monogram his name on a shirt or whatever, it would be w/the permission and agreement w/DD to wear it only to day care, not out in public….like when he goes with DSIL to his league football. I have to laugh his favorite “woobie”, the fleece blanket that goes w/him to day care has his full name and birthday on it….LOL But, he doesn’t take that out and about…..in the car, fer sure but when they get out, woobie stays and waits in the car….LOL

Carter loves those kids that DSIL coaches but at Kris’ games, those same kids are there and love to play with him and he has gotten out of sight a couple of times and I could see DD was a bit panicked. So, to me that is too public of a place. I love the idea of monogramming though. IMHO
