Everything Sewing :: View topic – Mock Cover Stitch

I posted this awhile back and wanted to add to it: Mock Cover Lock Stitch 1. serge raw edge 2. fold up and press –see note* 3. place serged edge on the bottom so the feed dogs will help ease any fullness in 4. using a double needle and thread stitch NOTE* I can’t for the life of me get the entire hem caught in the stitching when I can’t see the edge.. even with a hem guide! so what I do is machine baste the hem in so that when I turn the fabric over I have a guide. then I remove basting stitch… ok I cheat but it works. added** because there is a ridge that forms between the two rows of stitches, not anything awful, but still a little one that I notice, I am now using wooly nylon in my bobbin. This thread because it is rather stretchy, helps make the ridge not so pronounced.

Just wanted to keep you all updated on my latest find.
