I absolutely LOVE Ebay. I, of course, have no other vices
Actually, I don’t drink, smoke, gamble (and I live in Reno!!) or fool around, but I’m addicted to Ebay. Thankfully, it’s a relatively inexpensive addiction. I’ll either bid first or get in there at the last minute–just depends on my mood-but I’ve had more success with the “last minute” route, to be honest. I’ve bid on smocking plates, but only the OOP ones that I can’t find anymore. Having said that, I lost out on two OOP plates recently (still won’t pay more than $5 a plate unless I REALLY need it!!)then found both of them at a new-to-me site. I’ve found a lot of OOP heirloom patterns that I wanted on Ebay; I may have to wait a long time for them to show up, but they eventually do
I found a knife block that I had been drooling over to use as a scissor block but didn’t want to pay $$ for–I paid less than $20 for it, including shipping, and it was brand new (I wanted this one because it has slots that didn’t require extensive boring to enlarge them for my scissors; in fact, most of the scissors fit as is, so we only had to enlarge a few of them for the thickest scissors, and it was gonna cost me dearly to obtain one so $20 was a bargain). I’ve been lucky and never had any really bad experiences. Only once did I buy a book that was misrepresented as a hardcover and turned out to be a ratty paperback, but they took it back and refunded my money so no problem, really. It’s scary what people will pay for stuff!! More money than sense, as they say. There have been only a couple of times I really believe I paid more than I should have, but they were things I really wanted, and I don’t spurge on myself often, so I guess it’s okay._________________Vanessa
