Everything Sewing :: View topic – Greetings from the Uk (but soon to be Texas)

I’m about to move from rainy England to sunny Houston, Texas with my husband. While out there I’m on what I’m calling a “career break (daft VISA issues…) and so have decided its the perfect time to take my love of dressmaking and clothes to a new level. Im quite good at sewing, having learnt from my lovely Gran when I would come home from college, inform her I had 25 costumes to make and we would get stuck in. I have an A-level in Theatre Studies where i specialised in Costume..I made a great costume for the character of Tatania, from A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream..I so wish I had taken a picture of it. I have a small amount of experience in actually making clothes, but nothing near the level I would like. I have made a 50’s style skirt recently, that I’m very proud of. I also love to make bags and this is something Im hoping to do more of. My ultimate aim is to open a Vintage Clothes shop in the next couple of years (when I’m allowed to work) and the skills I plan to improve can only help me in this exciting/terrifying adventure.

Anyway, Hello, nice to meet you and Id love a chocolate cookie…
