Long day again, lots of kids/spouses in and out all day, never alone. The doctor said the test showed Dale has pneumonia in both lungs, and he had a heart attack during surgery, not sure of the damage yet, thinks mild (and we hope he is right). Medicine for both, he got the breathing tube out this afternoon, is coughing up a lot of gunk, and is alert but doped for pain too. If he continues like he did today, they will set him on the side of the bed and give him ice chips. Wants to get food in him and some movement…maybe just stand, no walking. Dr. Moore said he wasn’t “out of the woods yet”…. and may need more blood. Fine with me, what ever it takes. They put a tube in his stomach because he felt like vomiting (probably because of the heart problem?) They need to take that out before he can eat, so doctor hopes for that tomorrow. Today is Dale’s 86th birthday…..he got to have the ball game on, the doctor said “by all means it was alright”, so the speaker was by his pillow and the television on. The nurse was going to tell him if we won in case he went to sleep and didn’t hear the ending. That was his present I guess.

You gals are the best, hugs to all of you. Stay tuned, Betty

The Cardinals won I know they did it just for Dale, so I hope that brought a smile to his face. If there is anything we can do for you Betty just let us know. I know we will all continue to pray.

thank you for taking the time for the update

Glad you are keeping us up to date on Dale.

You and Dale are in my thoughts and prayers. So glad you have your family beside you during this difficult time- so wonderful to have them to lean upon for support and relief. Big hugs.

The fact he wanted to watch the ballgame is really encouraging! The human body and spirit are amazing things. They work together to pull us through what doesn’t seem possible. My prayers for Dale’s continued recovery and strength and energy for you will continue today.

Betty, I am amazed and thankful that you checked in with us during such a difficult time. We are all pulling and praying for Dale. I am so glad St. Louis won last night and can’t help thinking how happy that may have made him. As you go thru this know that we are here for you in whatever capacity and lots of prayers are happening to help you both thru this. God bless and thank you for the update.
